Final week of Sustainable Change Project – Water: focus and measurement
This is the final post on water because next week I’ll be launching the theme for October – transport and travel. So what have I learnt?
If you place your focus on something you tend to make it happen
Not exactly a surprise but pleasing to see that being conscious about and reflecting on my water usage means that I have made conscious efforts to change my behaviour. For example, this week again I remembered to take my own bottle of water with me to London (essential in the strangely warm weather we’re having). And I used the water saved from my shower to wash the glass in the patio doors. I feel confident that the small changes I’ve made will continue because even though I’m moving on to a new theme, I’ve started to develop new habits. Conscious habits all the same but with time they will become unconscious habits.
I’d really like to have used the figures from our water meter to measure the change in water usage over the next few months compared to last year. Unfortunately it won’t be a fair comparison because there was 2 of us at home most of the time this time last year, whereas there is only me now. Still, I don’t need to look at the figures to know that there will be a difference, but I reckon if you can do that, it would be an interesting exercise to do.
